Hi Wendy,

Just picked up on your blog and that you have loads of readers. You may like to share our Fun quiz with the chance of winning World Cup tickets in Wales and Scotland, or play just for fun. We also do write ups on rugby sites and you may feel in the mood to have a write up, if you do drop me a line with details of how and why you started plus when and anything else you would like in the article.

Here is a link to the quiz have a go yourself.

Peter,

Thanks for the email and I will definitely write a small blurb in the next few days, things are a little crazy here…but I will try to get around it! Meanwhile, hopefully you will get some hits from this post.

Wendy

  1. OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE – 31 JULY 2008

THE SOCIAL RUGBY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009
BigFish Sports Productions is proud to announce the first ever Social
Rugby World Championships. To be held in Cape Town, South Africa from 13 –
26 June 2009. The tournament – hosted in one of the world’s most beautiful
cities – promises to be packed with great running rugby, good times and
    teams from across the globe.

FOR THE LOVE OF RUGBY & BEER
Professional rugby has certainly made its mark worldwide – during 2007 TV
audiences for The Rugby World Cup grew to a record high 4.2 billion
viewers, with over 2.2 million spectators attending the games live.

Yet, there remains no international outlet for the dedicated players of
the social game – aged 18 to 39 who don’t compete for first team honours –
the competitors who simply play for fun.

    THE TOURNAMENT
The Social Rugby World Championships 2009 will coincide with the British
and Irish Lions Tour of South Africa and be hosted by Villagers RFC – Cape
    Town’s second oldest rugby club.

Having the tournament at the same time as the Lions tour will allow
touring teams the opportunity to enjoy 5 social games of rugby with the
added opportunity of watching the World Champions take on the Lions! See
http://www.srwc2009.co.za for a complete schedule of games.

    * All teams should include a maximum of 30 players, with 2 spots open for
    management.
    * There will be a total of 40 games with each team playing 5 games
    guaranteed.
    * 16 international teams will compete in 4 pools of 4 teams each.
    * The teams in each pool will play against one another in a round robin
    fashion.
    * Once the pool stages have been concluded semi-finals will be held for
Cup, Plate, Bowl and Shield competitions.
    * Thereafter finals and 3rd/4th play-off games will take place.

    * All competing teams will also enjoy a day out with previously
disadvantaged communities holding coaching workshops in township areas in
    and around Cape Town.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not an ‘Old Crocks’ tournament, but aimed at 18 – 39
year olds playing the game for fun – guys not competing for competitive
honours at provincial/county or even club 1st team honours.

    CONTACT DETAILS
For more information please visit The Social Rugby World Championships
2009 official website – http://www.srwc2009.co.za or want to take part please
feel free to contact the organisers on info@srwc2009.co.za.

    For the love of rugby,
    Rolf
