Wales women return to winning ways – 2010 Women’s Rugby Six Nations

from RBS Six Nations:

Winger Caryl James helped herself to two tries as Wales got their RBS 6 Nations campaign up and running with victory over Scotland in Bridgend.
Wales lost to England in their opening fixture but bounced back in style with three tries in the first half putting them in the driving seat before eventually going on to win 28-12.

James was the star of the show twice crossing the whitewash in the first half, while Non Evans also got her name on the scoresheet, with Tanya Griffith keeping the visitors in the game with a try before half time.

But a Mared Evans try after the interval, couples with Evans’ 100 per cent conversion rate meant Scotland captain Lynne Reid’s late score was a mere consolation.

And Wales coach Jason Lewis was delighted with the performance of his improving side, he said: “This was a very pleasing win which has got us back on track.

“Scotland came here full of confidence having beaten France. They were up for it but to be fair the girls went out and worked to the game plan. They stuck to it and it paid dividends.”
