Atlanta Harlequins Seeking Head Coach for Fall 2013

Club History:
After placing in the top 3 of the D1 conference three years running while compiling a 24-2 regular season record, the Harlequins won the National Championship in 2012. The club has been promoted to the Women’s Premier League and is ready to compete for the WPL Championship this fall. In existence since 1984, we have an established Harlequin culture and a true sense of “club,” which is key to our success, both on and off the field. Players from all over the South commute or move to play with our squad; our championship roster carried players from 5 states, all of whom attend training regularly.

Position Summary, We are looking for a coach who:
● will help us compete for the WPL Championship
● will nourish and evolve Harlequin culture
● will promote enjoyment of the game and growth of the team by establishing a nurturing, competitive, fun, social rugby environment
● will focus on player development
● is in it for the long term, but we may entertain short-term arrangements if there is a possibility of extending the relationship

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
● Outstanding technical, tactical and strategic knowledge of the game
● Excellent oral communication skills
● Effective leadership that encourages both successful development and competitive performance
● Basic video filming, editing and analytical ability
● Willingness to cooperate with team leadership and assistant coaches to achieve team goals

Requirements:
● Commitment for Fall 2013 at a minimum (July/Aug. 2013 through Nov. 2013)
● USA Rugby Coaching Certification

Essential Functions:
● Provide leadership for the team
● Establish coaching strategies and teaching methods to develop player skills and promote teamwork
● Prepare and execute two trainings per week
● Develop skills and implement drills for all positions, units and levels of athletes
● Attend all league matches
● Determine match selections
● Provide formal feedback to players twice during the season
● Analyze team performance and adjust strategies as needed

Compensation:
● Monthly coaching salary (negotiable)
● Discretionary budget for miscellaneous expenses
● Travel/lodging expenses to all matches and tournaments
● CIPP registration
