Chesapeake Women’s Rugby Football Club was established in 1974 and is considered one of the longest continually running women’s clubs in the nation.
The make-up of the club ranges from true rookies to ten+ year veterans. The women of Chesapeake wish to continue to build a strong team with a reputation for competitive rugby while maintaining a friendly atmosphere for welcoming new players to the sport.
Qualified head coach candidates will have knowledge of current USA Rugby laws and have a current USA Rugby Coaching Certification (or be willing to complete a course). He or she will be expected to teach safe and proper technique to beginning level players while challenging and integrating the skills of higher-level players.
The head coach will be expected to plan and implement two-hour practices twice per week and attend matches on Saturdays and some Sundays for tournaments during the spring and fall seasons, as well as coordinate with the assistant coach.
Pay will be comesurate with experience, and travel costs for away tournaments will be covered.
Our former coach is a former Women’s Eagle, and we are very sad to see her go, but would like to find someone of her caliber to replace her. We have had a lot of retirements of players from the core of the team, and ended our fall season on a less than stellar note, but would love to come out swinging this fall, and show the other teams out there that we are a force to be reckoned with!
All interested parties, please contact chesapeakewrfc@gmail.com
Thanks!
