Philadelphia Women’s RFC to hold Pumpkinfest Rugby Tournament – Sep 6-7, Alapocas Run State Park

Sevens season may be just getting underway, but many Unions are already finalizing their 2014-2015 XVs schedules. Philadelphia Women’s Rugby Football Club (PWRFC) hopes you will fit the Pumpkinfest Fifteens Tournament into your early fall match schedule. What better way to transition from Sevens to Fifteens than with two full days of diverse competition?

The new competitive structure for D1, 2, and 3 women’s clubs does not allow for a wide variety of opponents during the regular season. Many clubs don’t see a team outside of their region until they reach national playoffs. Tournaments like Pumpkinfest enable teams to play clubs they would not normally get to play against, and experience the wonderful community aspect of rugby. In addition, playing multiple games in a no-pressure atmosphere allows teams to experiment with new personnel and/or develop players that may not otherwise get much playing time in a matrix match.
