Twenty-five elite rugby players from across the country were named to the USA Rugby AIG Women’s Collegiate All American team for the upcoming tour of Canada.
Over 100 athletes participated in regional combine camps in May and June, making the selection process extremely difficult for WCAA Head Coach Martha Daines.
“Despite being from a wide variety of colleges and levels of experience, they came together and played like a cohesive team in the final scrimmages at both camps,” Daines said.
Twenty-two different colleges and universities are represented on the team this year.
Among the athletes traveling to Canada are Baylee Annis (Norwich University), Stephanie Goetz (James Madison University), Bailey Johnson (St. Cloud University), Erika Pedersen (U.S Naval Academy), and Kristen Thomas (Central Florida University), who had the honor of playing in France for the 2013 WCAA squad.
The WCAAs will be taking on an All-Ontario team in Toronto July 18 and July 20.
