2014 – 2015 Women’s Sevens World Series

IRB Women's Sevens World Series | Women's RugbyThe 2014-2015 Women’s Sevens World Series will kick off December 4-5, 2014 in the 7he Sevens Stadium in Dubai alongside the men’s sevens series. Rugby returns to the Olympics in Rio in 2016, and the WSWS is an integral step for teams as they look for qualification. Sao Paolo will host the second round of the series on February 7 and 8, the teams will then travel to the USA where Atlanta will host the third stop on March 14 and 15. Canada is one of the new cities this year and will host the fourth stop on April 18 and 19. The last two stops of the series will be in London (also a new host) on May 15 and 16 and Amsterdam on May 22 and 23.

IRB Sevens General Manager Avan Lee said: “Women’s Sevens has never been bigger and this season is very important for the series and also for the growth of the Game.”

“With four qualification places to the Olympic Games 2016 on offer, the competitiveness and intensity of women’s Sevens is on the increase. I am confident that we will see some outstanding Rugby in this season’s expanded IRB Women’s Sevens World Series, which is a reflection of the ever increasing popularity of the women’s Game.”

The series has not only expanded with additional stops but has added four more teams Fiji, China, France and South Africa. They were awarded core status, meaning they will attend all events after their performance and final standings at the 2014 Hong Kong 7s.

2014 – 2015 IRB Women’s Sevens World Series

First round: Dubai, United Arab Emirates – December 4-5, 2014
Second round: São Paulo, Brazil – February 7-8, 2015
Third round: Atlanta, Georgia, USA – March 14-15, 2015
Fourth round: Langford, British Columbia, Canada – April 18-19, 2015
Fifth round: London, UK – May 15-16 2015
Sixth round: Amsterdam, Netherlands – May 22-23 2015

Broadcast

Each event will be broadcast on the Women’s Sevens World Series.
