ARPTC Hosting Women’s High Performance 7s Rugby Camp – Jan 17-20, 2015

American Rugby Pro Training CenterAmerican Rugby Pro Training Center, a newly designated USA Rugby National Development Academy and Olympic Development Academy Program member, is yet again hosting 30-40 hand-selected women’s 7s players at a high performance camp in Little Rock, AR January 17-20, 2015.

Special guest coaching staff members include USA Rugby National 7s Team greats, Ellie Karvoski, Laura Cabrera, Donna Thomas and Irene Gardner. ARPTC also welcomes apprentice coaches Anna Kunkel (current KC Jazz player and Northland Men’s Rugby and Missouri Youth Rugby Girls High School coach), Justin Goonan (current head coach of the Spring Hill College Rugby program), and Rosalind Chou (current Head Coach of Life University Women’s program).

“I’m excited to welcome another batch of very talented women’s rugby players and Olympic hopefuls,” says ARPTC founder and former USA Rugby Women’s 7s team head coach, Jules McCoy. “While most invites have already been extended, we continue to work with program directors and coaches across the country to source top notch participants.”

ARPTC is certainly doing its part to both identify and physically and mentally prepare our U.S. athletes for the 2016 Olympic Games. In addition to hosting ongoing women’s and men’s high performance camps, American Rugby Pro Training Center is working to create more domestic and international competition opportunities via partnerships with Tiger, Atlantis/Apex and Stars Rugby 7s programs, and an official men’s and women’s residency program for more consistent high level training.

All efforts are designed to prepare athletes for what would be expected if granted a residency spot with the national teams at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA, winning at the international level, and successfully competing at the 2016 Olympic Games.

All women’s rugby coaches are asked to contact Coach McCoy directly should they identify promising young rugby talent who would excel at January’s camp. Select elite athletes will be given opportunities to try out and become a part of future 7s high performance camps, residency programs and Tiger, Atlantis and Stars 7s tours going forward.

Selections for the upcoming Women’s 7s high performance camp close December 31, 2014.
