USA, Canada & Ireland Scrimmaging at Chula Vista this Weekend

USA, Canada & Ireland Women's Rugby ScrimmagesThe USA Eagles and Canada have met in Chula Vista in the Spring the last two years for training camps. They are renewing that event and coming together for training and scrimmages this weekend. Joining women’s rugby teams USA & Canada in Chula Vista this year will be Ireland. This training is well placed ahead of the 2nd stop of the Women’s Sevens World Series (WSWS) February 7-8, 2015, Brazil 7s in Sao Paulo.

The weather in Chula Vista is one draw as both Canada and Ireland would otherwise have to train in the wet and cold at home.

Head Coach of Canada, John Tait is very keen on the trip as he feels that every team has contrasting styles, a trip like this allows the Canadians to try out different tactics against someone other than themselves. Most importantly for Tait, it provides the players with a different learning environment.

“Nothing sharpens the focus quite like having some competition opportunities against less familiar opponents than if we were to stay and just have intrasquad games,” said Tait, who will use this time to narrow down his selections for the next round of the World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series.
