The Future of Women’s Rugby in America – Pam Kosanke & Pete Steinberg

This year at the National Development Summit (NDS) there was an amazing track focused on the Women’s Rugby World Cup (WRWC). We already shared a presentation by Pete Steingberg and Peter Bagetta on their experience at the 2014 WRWC and the lessons learned. Now we bring you another sneak peek into another amazing presentation by Pam Kosanke and Pete Steinberg as well. Of course this won’t have the full effect and we do recommend attending an NDS in the future.

USA RugbyThis initiative was started by Bob Latham, USA Rugby Chairman’s experience with the economic and experiential success of the Women’s Rugby World Cup in France last year.Bob, Pam Kosanke and Pete Steinberg feel that the momentum and new marketplace opportunities are certainly there for the taking, especially as we head into the Olympics.

So far, they have conducted a comprehensive qualitative and quantitative study with key constituents and ongoing 1:1 interviews to get feedback on just about every aspect of the women’s game. They received almost 1,500 completed surveys (which they’re still pouring over!)

The presentation below provides some initial findings and next steps and Pete provided an overview of a more sophisticated national team pathway structure – both men and women alike are yearning for more definition and transparency around how to become an Eagle.
