New York, NY; Aug 27, 2015 – The Northeast Academy proudly announces its Inaugural Women’s Team, for this weekend’s Elite City 7’s tournament in Philadelphia. A robust mix of gritty experience with up and coming names in the USA pathway mark the Academy’s debut women’s squad. USA All-Americans at the College and Junior levels will combine with experienced crossover-sport senior women in what promises to be an exciting and gutsy squad.

Academy Director of Women’s Rugby, John McGeachy has teamed with esteemed women’s coaches from all over the Northeast to improve on the already quickly developing skills this set of women bring to the table. Assistant coaches Gary Lee Heavner and Tom Feury will be on hand with McGeachy in Philadelphia to help the team implement a savvy game-plan, which will key on exploiting turnover opportunities through smart and aggressive defensive systems.

Many of the women named to the debut squad have been included in USA Rugby’s National All-Star Competitions in 2015. A handful of whom graduated from peripheral levels to fully recognized targets in the USA Pathway, thanks to their performances there. In addition to the NASC spotlight, almost all of the Northeast Academy’s women attended a joint partnership camp at Julie McCoy’s ARPTC campus in Little Rock, AK this past weekend. The 2015 summer schedule has indeed been busy for the Northeast Academy women, all of whom are eager to make their marks on the national tournament scene this weekend in Philadelphia.
