40th Anniversary of Women’s Rugby Across the World

40 Years of Women's RugbyA number of women’s rugby clubs and teams are celebrating their 40th Anniversaries this year. This is a major accomplishment as women’s rugby has only been in existence in the USA since 1972 – The Colorado State University Hookers at Fort Collins; the University of Colorado, at Boulder; and the University of Illinois, at Champaign [Wikipedia] were among the first. The USA Rugby Women’s Eagles came to be in 1987, so we are still quite a young nation.

So those clubs that have been around for 40 years need to be celebrated!

Please let us know by email, on Twitter or Facebook if we missed one! With that in mind, lets celebrate clubs on social media with #wrugby40 as well.
