WANTED: Chicago North Shore Head Coach

Chicago North Shore RugbyChicago North Shore, a Division 1 women’s club in Chicago, is looking for a new head coach beginning early March 2016 through the USA Rugby D1 National Championships on June 4, 2016. The ideal candidate has the leadership skills and strategic knowledge to help North Shore continue to grow and develop as one of the nation’s top D1 side, with the ultimate goal of winning another National Championship.

About the team:
Chicago North Shore was founded as a DII club and played its first game as a 7s team during the Summer of 1995. North Shore’s first trip to Sweet Sixteens was 2002 where we placed #10 in the country. In 2010, the team made its first trip the Division I Final Four and took home 3rd. Finally, in 2011 we made our first trip to the National Championship Finals. We entered playoffs ranked #8 and ended up winning the National championship. We returned to the National Championship Finals in 2014 and claimed second place. The current roster consists of about 30 dedicated athletes with experience ranging from brand new rookie to past, present, and aspiring Women’s Eagles.

Coaching roles include:
-Develop overall team and subunit strategy
-Provide feedback to help the team and individuals learn and grow
-Plan and lead team practices on Mondays and Wednesdays in season
-Work with team leaders to select players for game-day roster
-Attend all league and playoff matches

Schedule:
-Spring 2016 season (March to early June)
-Team practices Monday and Wednesday from 7-9 pm at Revere Park (2501 W. Irving Park Rd)

Recent competitive history:
-2010 – first trip to D1 Final Four (3rd place)
-2011 – D1 National Champions
-2012 – D1 playoffs (5th place)
-2014 – D1 National Championship 2nd place
-2015 – D1 National Quarterfinalist

Requirements:
-Level 200 coaching certification
-Ability to travel with the team to away league matches (Detroit, Minnesota) and playoffs (TBD)
-Ability to commit to entire Spring season, and ideally an interest to continue coaching into the 2016-2017 season
-Must have previous experience coaching and/or playing rugby (experience coaching women preferred)

Compensation:
-This is a part-time position
-Match related travel expenses paid for by the club
-Stipend also offered, negotiable to reflect coaching experience
