ARPTC Opens Applications for College Prep Program

ARPTC logo soloAmerican Rugby Pro Training Center (ARPTC) has announced a new program aimed at preparing recent high school graduates and early college athletes for collegiate level rugby. The College Prep program will be made available June through August as a full-time residency.

Coach Ellie Karvoski notes that a large component of the ‘Prep for College’ Summer Residency is building collaborative relationships with high school and college coaches.

“These relationships are crucial in order to best prepare players to make an immediate impact for their next stage in rugby,” says Karvoski. “Players will have the opportunity to spend 2-3 months in a full time environment getting trained by an elite coaching staff in a supportive environment where they can develop rugby skills tailored towards their needs, acquire life skills, make physical gains and reduce injuries through our strength and conditioning program—and most importantly, leave with the confidence that they can excel in the next step in their college rugby development.”

ARPTC’s full-time elite athlete environment results in accelerated growth for the player, focusing on skill development, functional strength gains, and strategy and tactics. Included in all of ARPTC’s weekly programming is four skills sessions, four strength and conditioning sessions, team practices, mental skills development meetings, core stability workout session, access to a Licensed Physical Therapist and biomechanical evaluation, access to a Certified Nutritionist, and regeneration services as needed. ARPTC also offers additional services to those players looking for part-time work.

As the college game rapidly grows, the demand for a completely focused and individualized professional program has increased. Thus, ARPTC has already begun signing athletes up for the summer sessions. Sophie Pyrz is a freshman at Penn State who will be spending the summer in the program.

“I’ve found that’s there’s not enough time in the day to work towards my rugby goals,” said Pyrz. “I’m excited for my residency so that I can solely focus on rugby and become stronger as a player and a person, while gaining skills to hopefully allow me to play internationally.”

In addition, ARPTC offers a competitive game schedule and individualized support as athletes navigate through the USA Rugby High Performance Player Pathway.

Athletes interested in applying for the program should ask their coaches to submit a coach’s referral form via the americanrugbypro.com website. An email may also be sent to ellie.karvoski@americanrugbypro.com.
