Back, Forward, and Kicking Coaches wanted for USF Women’s Rugby Coaching Staff

University of SaUSF Logon Francisco Women’s Rugby seeks assistant coaches with specialties in Backs, Forwards, and Kicking skills for the 2016-2017 season. Level 100 coaching certification at minimum, attain Level 200 coaching certification and Touch Judge certification by December, 2016. Additional certifications in Strength and Conditioning, Referee, or Assistant Referee are beneficial but not required.

Duties include: Under direction of the Head Coach, evaluate, assess, instruct and develop collegiate student athletes in a club sport environment; provide specialty expertise (Back/Forward/Kicking) for individual and collective skills,  contribute to development of sub-unit strategies, plays and implementation into game plans; provide input for match selections, assist with match day analysis and documentation, attain USF driver approval (clean driver history) and serve as driver for away games and team events with university provided vehicles, provide positive role model and contribute to a team culture that holds winning is the consequence of hard work’s achievement. All coaches must be USA Rugby CIPP registered, and pass background checks.

The USF women’s team completed its first competitive season in 2016, finishing regular season play ranked #1 in the West Coast Rugby Conference Division III and in post season, runner-up at the USA Rugby Regional Championship DIII. With an active roster of just under 30 players, little turnover is expected as the team moves into Division II next year. With a strong core of veterans and many players entering their second year of rugby, we anticipate an exciting and challenging second year of competition as the team enters Division II.

Team practices are Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm during the Fall and Spring semesters. A two week training camp is held prior to the start of the Spring Semester in January that includes a daily morning fitness session (7:00 – 8:00 am) and daily training session in the (3:00 – 5:00 pm) afternoon. Assistant coaches are expected to attend a minimum of one training session/week during regular season plus Saturday matches as well as post season play.

The University of San Francisco Rugby program is a club sport. The Assistant Coaching positions are volunteer. USF Women’s Rugby is a performance and merit driven team. We are Rugby Strong!
