WANTED: Pittsburgh Angels Women’s Rugby Head Coach

The Pittsburgh Rugby Football Club was established in 1964. Since that time, the club has identified itself as an organization of diverse and colorful people with one common passion: to play the best rugby possible. The team has grown to represent the city from which it has sprung. Whether it be its diverse makeup of members, it’s hard working and gritty reputation, or even the colors it wears (Black and Gold), the PRFC is the city’s team.

The Pittsburgh Angels are a competitive Division I Women’s Rugby team in the MAC Conference and part of the Pittsburgh Rugby Club. The Angels have a history of competing at the national level and would like to continue developing, growing, and contending on the national stage. We are looking for a head coach to lead the team beginning in the Fall 2017 season.

The head coach would be expected to provide full team leadership providing development opportunities for player growth for the entire squad with players varying in levels of experience and skill. The head coach would have the option to build a volunteer staff for assistance

Salary Competitive and based on experience
Responsible to PRFC Executive Committee
Contractual Status Annual, Part-time
Location –          Training – Manchester Elementary School, Pittsburgh, PA

–          Matches – TBD (home) and Mid-Atlantic area for all local matches

Hours of Work –          Training – Tuesday/Thursday: 7:00p-9:00p

–          Matches – Saturdays: Typically 11:30a – 3:00p (contingent on 2nd side and location)

Season –          August to November (Fall) and March to June (Spring)
Role Summary –          Developing and implementing successful coaching strategies for all practices and games

–          Working with Executive Committee to clearly carry out team initiatives

–          Establishing rapport with team members and club

–          Assisting in recruiting and club growth initiatives

–          Aiding in club-related fundraising activities and alumni outreach

–          Helping build out schedule (outside of regular season) alongside Match Secretary and Club Captain

Experience and Qualifications –          Previous experience coaching at the club or collegiate level

–          Coaching for full team development and game strategy; forwards and back coaching

–          USA Rugby Level 200 Coaching Certification (or willingness to be certified by 8/1/17)

Key Characteristics –          Interest in coaching both elite and developmental players

–          Strong communication – giving and receiving feedback to and from the players/Executive Committee

–          Motivated to win in addition to promoting a strong club culture

–          Able to provide structure during practices and games and adapt as necessary

Applicants for the position of Head Coach must be able to design and implement practices and communicate with all players, including providing feedback to develop the individual and team game, and be willing to travel to all matches.  Administrative duties do not fall under the coach’s responsibilities, as the club has a well-established executive board.

    l would be interested in the coaching post, l am rfu level 3 wrfu level 3. l am based in the UK at present coaching in Canada
    which is soon ending, l have coached a ladies team for a few seasons, taking them to national level.
    l can help develope young players and coaches.
    l like to see the game flow and for players to enjoy and inprove.
    l have a small income in Uk so would not need a great deal of money, just some where to stay.
    l was directer of rugby in Pakistan for 2 seasons
