After confirming that Glendale would come last night and that the game was on…this morning rumor has it that Glendale decided not to come because they might not be able to fly out of Austin Saturday night. Really?

Looks like perfect weather in Austin tomorrow, we will be sure to post our pictures from our B side match against TX State at 11am.

!Flashback!

Karl left a comment that brought me back to great memory of rugby in the snow! Remember in 2003 when Club Championships were in Colorado Springs and a foot of snow fell? I was there trying out for the West U23 All-Star team and it was crazy! What adventures rugby has shown me in my life! Enjoy this shot of one of our players heading towards the fields in the blizzard…the fields were only 30 or so feet from the camera…white-out!

  1. I was wondering if you valks were going to cancel. I might have the kids this weekend in Austin and was hoping to bring my daughter to the game. Best of luck whether we make it or not!!

  3. Wendy,

You’ll have to ask Meg about the time we had territorials in Colorado Springs and watched 1 foot of snow come down on the fields Saturday night before the championships… We’d already shoveled 1 foot of snow off the fields from the night before just to play the first round games. This is starting to look a bit like that (although 1 foot of rain, rather than snow – not sure which is better/worse). I think Austin and St. Louis had to drive to a neutral location some weeks later to determine who got the West’s 3rd seed, and we never even got to play the Jazz to challenge for the first seed. Sucked all around. Here’s hoping Frontier and United don’t cancel flights on Friday!

Hope to see you Saturday morning!

  4. Actually I do remember that because I was there for West U23 tryouts and we froze our butts off!

We worked hard all morning to squish all that snow down and for our afternoon session they put the Club Championships on that field and we were back in the soft powder again!

    Crazy weather!!
