South Africa Women Getting Ready for Kazakhstan

The South African Women rugby squad gets together on Thursday in Cape Town for a four day training camp in preparation for their two Tests against fellow IRB Women’s World Cup qualifiers Kazakhstan next month in Dubai.
The two international matches will be played on 8 and 10 April at the Al Ain Rugby Club in Dubai and forms part if the SA team’s overall plan to send a competitive team to the Women’s World Cup later this year in England. Twelve teams will participate in England from 20 August to 5 September.

The SA squad also spent some time together in January and February.

Meanwhile, SARU has confirmed the women’s national team will play two more international matches later this year before the world tournament in England. Two away matches against Scotland have been pencilled in for 5 and 12 June.

In between the Dubai and Scotland Tests, the SA squad members will be released to play for their provinces in the SARU Inter-Provincial tournament before getting together for another training camp from 24-30 May.

The South African Women’s squad to assemble on Thursday in Cape Town is: Yolanda Meiring, Pulane Motloung (Blue Bulls), Natasha Hofmeester (Boland), Portia Jonga, Mandisa Williams, Fundiswa Plaatjie, Nolusindiso Booi, Ziyanda Tywaleni (Border), Cebisa Kula, Donna Sidumbu, Lamla Momoti, Saloma Booysen, Zandile Nojoko, Lorinda Brown, Phumeza Gadu, Zenay Jordaan, Namhla Siyolo, Charmaine Kayser (Eastern Province), Marlize Jordaan (Free State), Nombulelo Mayongo (Griffons), Dolly Mavumengwana (KwaZulu-Natal), Onicca Moaga (SANDF), Aimee Barrett, Cherne Roberts, Nosipho Poswa, Nedene Botha (Western Province).

Team Management: Denver Wannies (Head Coach), Orna Prinsloo (Team Manager), Rhudolph Gerber (Forward Coach), Kayalethu Malotana (Backline Coach), Denzil van Heerden (Conditioning Coach), Tanushree Pillay (Physiotherapist), Dr Jacoba Lindeque (Interim Team Doctor).
