NRU Rolls Over Competition Again at Senior All Stars Championships (NASCs) – Match Videos and Summary

Tier 1 Action
Congrats to NRU as they claim another title at the USA Rugby Senior All Star Championships. During Friday’s action NRU handily defeated SoCal #1 26-3 and then on Sunday in the Championship they scoured the Midwest 29-0.

Leading up to their match against NRU in the Championship the Midwest looked very strong. They defeated a young Pacific team 19-12 in a brutal back and forth match. However NRU showed up to win a back-to-back victory.

Tier 2 Action
In Tier 2 action the West looked to make a comeback after a few years of struggling…they attempted a 2nd half comback after MARFU led at the half. They couldn’t quite muster enough points and MARFU won 33-22. On Sunday MARFU faced South who has been working to build their program from the ground up over the last few years. MARFU held on though in a tough fight to win 10-0 over the South. MARFU will move up to Tier 1 next year while Pacific moves down to unfamiliar territory in Tier 2.

Last year the All Americans filled the #8 spot and this year the West Coast Warriors (SoCal #2) stepped. SoCal has been up and coming for a few years with a strong U23 program so it was no surprise that the West Coast Warriors were able to hang in this competition. Wonder if the trend will be to have the “hosting” territory supply a second team or will we see the All Americans again?
