WANTED: Head Women’s Rugby Coach at American International College

American International College is a private institution of higher education located on a 58 acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. Founded in 1885, the College has 3500 graduate and undergraduate students. It awards undergraduate degrees in four principal areas of study: liberal arts, business administration, psychology and education (including criminal justice), and health science (nursing, physical and occupational therapy). At the graduate level it offers masters degrees in business, education, psychology, and public administration and has two doctoral programs. The mission of the College is to transform student lives through career focused learning, with a strong foundation in the liberal arts, a commitment to serving the community, and a high level of involvement in the global economy.

The Head Women’s Rugby Coach will be responsible for coaching the women’s rugby team for the College. This position will also include recruiting; administrative duties; community outreach; and on the field teaching and player development. The individual will have strong knowledge of the game, rules and regulations and will guide the entire program to be respectable and competitive.

Coaching
•Implement a high performance training plan.
•Facilitate strength and conditioning program.

Recruiting
•Attract new students to AIC from the USA and beyond.
•Augment new student recruits with current students interested in learning the game.
•Travel to high school and club events and competitions to develop interest in the school and program.
•Work with the admissions and financial aid teams to see prospective students through the admissions process and onto campus.

Administration
•Budget for team expenses.
•Schedule travel.
•Manage student workers and assistant coaches.
•Create competition schedules.
•Liaise with applicable governing bodies.
•Manage player eligibility and registration.
•Keep records of team events and statistics.
•Foster internet and social media presence of team.

Community
•Work to develop students personally as part of a larger campus staff.
•Monitor students’ academic quality and progress.
•Assert the team as an active member of the campus and Springfield communities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
•Two years of coaching rugby as an assistant or head coach
•Women’s and collegiate experience is preferred
•Current USA rugby coaching certification
•Valid driver’s license is required, with ability to travel
•Ability to represent the philosophy and educational goals of American International College

WORK HOURS/SCHEDULE:

The Head Women’s Rugby Coach is a full time, twelve (12) month, exempt position not limited to 35 hours per week with hours of work flexible to the needs of the department.
