Offense was definitely the name of the game today, with both teams managing to get at least 5 tries in. The game started off with Glendale kicking off the Beantown, but Glendale got the ball back and made some good passes through their backline. A scrum to Glendale resulted in a feeding call and a penalty for Beantown. Beantown ended up taking the ball out of bounds but was able to steal the ball back in the resulting lineout. Beantown got the ball out quickly down the back line to the wing, and the first try was scored. The kick was no good and Beantown was up 5-0. Following the next kickoff the ball was turned over to Glendale who made a big push deep into Benatown territory. Beantown had some solid goal line defense, forcing a knock on by Glendale and even holding up a try, but Glendale persevered and was able to get a try in, with a good kick to follow, putting the score at Beantown 5-7 Glendale.

The game continued with a lot of turnover ball between the teams and quite a bit of kicking, especially from Glendale. Glendale even attempted to kick for points during the first half, but missed. With a new scrum cadence in effect, both teams seemed to handle the change well and the scrum stayed relatively stable throughout the game. However, there were some penalties called on both sides during scrums, and it was off one of these against Beantown that Glendale capitalized and their forwards jammed in another try. With another good kick, the score was Beantown 5-14 Glendale. Immediately after Beantown responded with a try of their own, and a good kick put the score at Beantown 12-14 Glendale. It then became a trading of tries, with Glendale putting a third try in quickly after and then Beantown setting a beautiful maul off a lineout which led to another try for themselves. Just before half, Glendale was again deep in Beantown territory, and although Beantown again put up some solid goal line defense, Glendale jammed in another try, putting the score at half time at Beantown 19-28 Glendale.

The beginning of the second half saw two more relatively quick scores by Glendale, who utilized their space out side, bringing the score to Beantown 19-38 Glendale. After this second try in the second half, Beantown was clearly fired up, and responded with a try of their own in just a few phases, and the score became Beantown 24-38 Glendale. A couple of mistakes led to a Beantown scrum that Glendale successfully wheeled. Beantown was able to drive the Glendale scrum back but Glendale got the ball out and on a penalty made a kick for points that was good, bringing the score up to Beantown 24-41 Glendale. After the next kickoff there were several turnovers, as  well as some quick taps off penalties. It was one of these quick taps by the Beantown scrumhalf that brought in a try for Beantown. The kick was no good, and the score was Beantown 29-41 Glendale.

After the next kickoff Beantown utilized their forwards to get the ball down the pitch, and even though their were some fumbles which resulted in a knock on near Glendale’s try line, the Beantown scrum proved powerful and they were able to get another try in under the uprights. The kick by Beantown was good and Beantown brought the score up to Beantown 36-41 Glendale. In the final minutes of the game, Glendale turned it on and got through Beantown’s defense to get one more try in. Beantown tried to push for one more of their own, but Glendale kicked the ball out of bounds and the game was called. After a very good showing by both teams, the final score was Beantown 36-48 Glendale.
