from Quinnipiac Rugby:
Hamden, Conn. – Quinnipiac women’s rugby freshman Lindey Wise (Franklin, Wis.) was recently recognized for her accomplishments on the field after being named to the 2013 Kevin Higgins Scholarship Program. The independent scholarships are awarded all graduating high school rugby players in the United States who are continuing their rugby career while seeking education at the collegiate level. Wise was one of 10 recipients to receive the accolades this year.
“Lindey’s selection for this scholarship is certainly no surprise as she is everything you want in a student-athlete,” said Head Coach Becky Carlson. “She is ever so deserving of this accolade from the US rugby foundation and both QU athletics and the university are immensely proud of her.”
The rookie played an instrumental role for her first year in the Quinnipiac women’s rugby program. Wise saw action in eight of the 11 regular season games and saw starts in the two post-season matches this year. The forward played an integral part for the Bobcats defensive line for her freshman campaign.
The Bobcats finished their 2013-14 season 10-3 overall and 4-2 in Northeast Conference action. For the second year in a row Quinnipiac has seen post season play in their three years as a Division I program.
