American University Women’s Rugby Seeking Head Coach for 2014-15 Academic Year

American University Women’s Rugby is looking for a coach this upcoming Fall 2014-Spring 2015 season.  AUWRFC is a competitive DII collegiate club which practices Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5PM-7PM (4PM-6PM during Daylight Savings Time) in the Tenleytown area.  Games are generally every Saturday during the season at locations throughout the MD/DC/VA area. The coach’s travel expenses will be covered by the team. We also hope to have our assistant coaches stay on board and help out our new head coach as much as possible.

This spring, AUWRFC was offered a chance to compete at the DII Sweet Sixteen national competition and although we did not qualify for the semi-finals, we placed among the top 12 schools in the country.  The team is made up of hard-working, motivated young women, and typically has around 20 returners in addition to new rookies that join each year through heavy recruitment. The team’s leadership is made up of an Executive Board of 11 players including a president, three captains, a match secretary, treasurer, and others who help the season transition smoothly. There is a lot of talent on this team, and the 2014-2015 season should be another successful year.

Those interested should contact Kirsten Franzen at auwomensrugbypresident@gmail.com.
