Berkeley All Blues Fall Head Coach Search

Berkeley Women's RugbyThe Berkeley All Blues Women’s Rugby Club is currently seeking a Head Fall Coach beginning mid-August through Women’s Premier League Nationals November 7-9, 2014. The ideal candidate is both able and committed to maintaining the club’s history of excellence and building a championship-level team.

The Team

Founded in 1978, the Berkeley All Blues is an elite women’s rugby team. The Club has won a combined total of 16 National Championships in both 15’s and 7’s, and is currently ranked second in the United States following the conclusion of the Fall 2013 Women’s Premier League season.

The All Blues consist of approximately 40 athletes, dedicated to the club and the sport of rugby. The Club welcomes athletes of all levels and current players range from elite to novice in experience. Several players regularly compete on the Women’s National Team and territorial select sides. The emphasis of fall season is to compete at the highest level in the Women’s Premier League with the aim to secure a National Championship. The WPL is composed of the top eight teams in the country, and is structured to provide the highest level of competition in the US.

Key Responsibilities

• Development of overall team and sub-unit strategies
• Development of athletes in the WPL pool, Providing effective feedback to individuals and the team
• Plan and execute twice weekly practices
• Attending all league matches and tournaments (overnight domestic travel is required)
• Coordinating match selections with team captains
• Assisting the Exec Board with team management and related efforts
• Assistance with upholding of club policies set by the club’s Exec Board

Schedule

Practices are held twice weekly on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in Berkeley, California. The Women’s Premier League consists of six league matches and a two—day national championship tournament. The 2014 league schedule is from September 14 through November 9, 2014. Specific match dates are TBD; league match travel will include San Diego (CA), Glendale (CO), and Washington D.C.

Qualifications

A level 200 coaching certificate is required. Previous playing and/or coaching experience is required; specific experience coaching women is preferred. This is a part time position. Compensation includes a stipend. It is negotiable and commensurate with experience. Match travel related expenses will be paid by the club.
