American International College Women’s Rugby Seeks Head Coach

JOB DESCRIPTION
American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. Included in the inventory of buildings are student residences for a resident population of 900 students. Founded in 1885, the College has 3700 graduate and undergraduate students. AIC offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs through the Schools of Business, Arts and Sciences; Health Sciences; and Graduate and Adult Education. The mission of the College is to transform student lives through career focused learning, with a strong foundation in the liberal arts, a commitment to serving the community, and a high level of involvement in the global economy. The athletic department at AIC is currently accepting applications as the Head Coach for our Women’s Rugby team. Under the direction of the Director of Rugby, the Head Coach will oversee the team in the areas of:

  • Recruitment
  • Hiring, supervising and evaluating assistants and staff
  • Game management
  • Game strategy including practice and game coaching and preparation
  • Interact with Rugby conference and USA Rugby officials
  • Scheduling of independent contests
  • Retention activities including academics, social and financial issues
  • Interact with athletic administration and financial aid office to create and maintain financial aid plan

The head coach must demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work with culturally diverse populations; strong recruiting methodology; experience with video editing software; willingness to work significant hours; and ability to represent the philosophy and educational goals of American International College. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of women’s rugby and women’s rugby recruiting
  • Ability to travel and maintain flexible hours
  • Prior coaching and competitive experience is required

WORK HOURS/SCHEDULE
This is a full time, exempt position with eligible benefits. Position requires a non-traditional schedule to meet the needs of students and teams, including evening and weekend events.
