Response to “No Ferns Allowed” | Everyone’s Allowed!

USA Rugby vs New Zealand All BlacksWe read the “No Ferns Allowed” article from Rugby Wrapup yesterday. It touts that there is one rule for the highly anticipated USA vs New Zealand match in Chicago in a few weeks and it just rubbed us wrong. “Unless you are a citizen of New Zealand, wear USA Rugby Eagles gear or no gear at all.”

Really?

Last I checked rugby was known for it’s wide world acceptance of everyone. In fact it’s one of my favorite parts of the sport, our community reaches far and wide. I completely disagree and in fact think that if there was one rule for the weekend, it should be, show up, be loud and cheer for rugby. Wear red, white and blue in support of ‘MERICA or sport white and black with proud for New Zealand. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if there are some South Africa, Argentina or England jerseys out there.

Get to Chicago, be loud, proud and cheer for rugby, that is all.
