Semifinals set for 2014 Fall Regional Women’s Rugby Collegiate Championship

The Semifinal matchups are set for the USA Rugby Women’s Division I and II College Fall Championships! Congratulations to the DI Women’s Rugby Colleges Penn State, Quinnipiac, Indiana and Norwich. Congratulations are also in order for the DII Women’s Rugby Colleges including Notre Dame, Winona, Kutztown and Bowdoin.

Defending National Champion Penn State looked strong as they defeated Kent State 95-0 and then Lindenwood 85-0. Quinnipiac had a tougher road facing Army but ultimately won 46-17 and then also defeated Brown 46-20. Indiana blanked Iowa State 34-0 and then held on to defeat the University of Northern Iowa 7-0 in double overtime. Lastly Norwich demolished the Univ of Conneticut 100-22 and then ripped through American International College 65-10.

The scores in the DII bracket were much closer with Notre Dame defeating Davenport 26-3 and Ithaca College 41-5. Winona made their way to the semis with a defeat of Arkansas 94-0 and Utah Valley University 20-7. Kutztown weathered Stonehill first, defeating them 43-20 and then Vassar 22-20. Bowdoin had the closets matches of the weekend, facing a tough Rutgers team 29-23 and then Marist 22-14.

Hosted by ACRA, the Women’s DI and DII Fall Championships will take place in Palm Coast, Fla., Dec. 6-7. The winner from both ranks will play the Spring Champion for a National Championship May 9 as part of the 2015 USA Rugby College National Championship Series.
