“The Saratoga Sevens is on track to become the class of club-run rugby tournaments in the country (voted last year by Serevi [now Atavus] as the 5th best tournament in the USA),” said Eric Huss, Director of Saratoga Sevens. “The introduction of high school divisions and a Sunday 7’s Academy has always been part of our tournament plans. Coinciding with the recent launch of Saratoga Youth Rugby Rec program, it will fit perfectly into the development of our Capital District Youth Rugby (CDYR) league as well. (We are) extremely fortunate to have a partner like Northeast Academy in New York state! Their level of coaching in the US is unsurpassed and will prove an instrumental component to the success of our tournament and development of our CDYR high school program.”

Indeed, the addition of Northeast Academy’s camp presents a wholly unique training opportunity for ambitious, young rugby players. As an officially sanctioned USA Rugby pathway to National Team selection, The Northeast Academy staff is especially experienced in developing and preparing Sevens Rugby players for elite levels of competition. The Camp will feature nationally recognized coaches from both the Northeast Academy and from Saratoga Rugby Club.

Northeast Academy President, Sean Horan said, “Saratoga Rugby Club and Eric Huss are making a tremendous impact in their local community through rugby. We are looking forward to

working with them to further develop these high school athletes during this fantastic rugby festival weekend.”

Huss also added, “Saratoga Springs is a world class sporting destination and we hope our rugby filled weekend will keep people coming back year after year to enjoy this amazing place!”

The High School Academy camp is open to both male and female players of any experience level. Cost of registration is $45 per player. Registration deadline: July 17th, 2015.
