Winona State Dominates ACRA 7s

Winona State Wins 2016 ACRA 7s

The 2016 American Collegiate Rugby Association (ACRA) 7s Championships took place last weekend in West Point, NY. The field was a bit different this year as the newly created National Intercollegiate Rugby Association 7s moved some of the teams. For example, last year’s winners Army took the NIRA 7s title while Army 2 participated in ACRA 7s.

With the shift came new teams and new experiences, Winona State hadn’t participated in Spring 7s before. For their first season, it was impressive that they did so well and beat Bloomsburg 27-26 to take the 2016 ACRA 7s final.

Bloomsburg participated in the DII ACRA 7s bracket last year, losing in the final to Davenport 0-31. This year though, they showed their improvement and reached the final to face Winona State.

Pool A: Bloomsburg, New Hampshire, Albany, Marist
Pool B: Winona, Stony Brook, Kutztown, Rutgers
