2017 College Fall Championships Update

The 2017 College Fall Championships are almost upon us! We’ve got the final results for Ivy Rugby but we’re waiting for brackets from NSCRO, USA Rugby and NIRA. While we wait, we thought we’d get everyone updated on how it stands ahead of Championship season.

Ivy Rugby

Dartmouth Women won their third straight Ivy title by defeating Harvard 22-8. Brown took third by defeating Princeton 62-25. Penn Women defeated Yale for the Ivy Club title by a score of 38-12.

USA Rugby D1 Elite

Not technically a fall championship as they won’t have brackets until 2018; Playoffs are in April and Championships in May. Two weeks ago Penn State and Lindenwood met in Elkhart, IN for a rematch of the 2016 Elite final. Lindenwood led early but Penn State was able to match them try for try and it was tied at before the half. Lindenwood didn’t take their foot of the gas though and led 29-17 at the half.

Lindenwood was impressive throughout the match and spread its seven tries across six players: prop Laura Enk, hooker Annemarie Reed, flyhalf Richelle Stephens, inside center McKenzie Hawkins, outside center Teresa Bueso-Gomez (2) and wing Sativa Tarau-Peehikuru. Hawkins converted every single try and added a penalty to lead with 22 points.
