American Rugby Pro Training Center Expands Internationally

American Rugby Pro Training Center (ARPTC), the largest National Development Academy in the United States, is expanding its support of rugby athletes striving for Olympic greatness. ARPTC is rolling out highly anticipated programming developments and international tournament play in two European countries for athletes pursuing rugby excellence. One of five Development Academies in America, ARPTC offers elite level training opportunities for rugby athletes across the country as a pathway to the Olympics and professional play.

International Tours: Rome & Ireland

ARPTC will compete internationally for the first time in 2019. ARPTC is expanding internationally, advancing the level of competitive matches for full-time training players. This international expansion offers Olympic rugby hopefuls a higher competitive stage with differentiated competition. ARPTC will travel to Rome, Italy and Kinsale, Ireland in the summer of 2019. Players representing ARPTC in Italy and Ireland will be selected from those training in the ARPTC Summer Residency Program. ARPTC’s Summer Residency Program is modeled after Team USA’s Rugby Training Program where residents receive high level coaching and elite supports in a full-time training environment.

Summer Residency Program

ARPTC Summer Residency athletes participate in three nationally recognized tournaments and are eligible for international selection and competition. Talented rugby athletes must submit coach recommendations and take part in the New Resident Trial Camp, March 30-31, in order to be eligible for the Summer Residency Program and subsequent international tournament selection. ARPTC staff will select 28 high level athletes for the 2019 Summer Residency Program.

ARPTC Scholarships!

With the investment in international competition on the horizon, ARPTC has developed financial programming designed to support elite athletes seeking participation in high level competitive rugby. Four scholarships, awarded to a total of seven athletes, are now available to high school, college, and club level rugby players applying for ARPTC training camps. These scholarships extend opportunities for athletes to showcase their creativity and writing in addition to their rugby commitment. Two video submission scholarships and two essay scholarships will be awarded with prizes ranging from $50 to $200 towards a 2019 ARPTC Program.

ARPTC Athlete Sponsorship Program

The ARPTC Athlete Sponsorship Program begins in 2019 with opportunities for rugby athletes in need of financial assistance to receive ongoing support from outside donors. The Sponsorship Program pairs financial donors with rugby athletes pursuing elite level training at ARPTC. Donors directly support the growth and development of individual rugby players while enhancing the game overall.

Jules McCoy, visionary and founder of ARPTC, continues to expand programming to prepare talented athletes to compete as elite rugby sevens players on a global stage. ARPTC is committed to training for excellence and offering opportunities for rugby players to build their abilities in a high level training environment. ARPTC promotes the sport of rugby for athletes as they follow their Olympic dreams!
