We’ll be looking at International, domestic club and college women’s rugby news this week. The big stories include #Langford7s, Rugby Canada HOF include Julie Foster, and the #Toky2020 schedule was released. As always, that’s not all the news, so keep reading:

  • More on the Barbarians defeat of USA in an epic matchup, 34-33
  • USA Rugby crowned their DI & DII College Spring Champions; BYU took DI over Virginia Tech while Fresno State held off the feisty Salisbury Seagulls for DII
  • The USA Rugby Club Playoffs landscape is shaping up, see The Rugby Breakdown tweets for more info
  • NSCRO’s Wayne State repeats as 7s Champion as well as the 15s Title
  • Uganda Rugby has elected a new Executive Committee including age grade rep Dorothy Nekesa and women’s rep Regina Luyolo
  • England’s Rachael Burford wants to ride the women’s rugby momentum as far as possible
  • Kenya has also added two women to their BOD, Wangui Kibe and Peris Mukoko
  • The Standard calls for support for the Kenya Lionesses after their performance at Hong Kong Sevens
  • Rugby Canada announces their 2018 HOF and it includes Julie Foster. Foster played for Canada for a decade with 44 international caps in 15s. She also gave back to the game as a coach, referee and received several community and rugby awards
  • The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games organizing committee has announced session times for the men’s and women’s rugby sevens competitions. Rugby will be played from July 27 – August 1st with men’s taking place first and women’s second.
  • Scotland Rugby has appointed former Irish coach Philip Doyle as Women’s Head Coach
  • Scotland is also getting ready to roll out a new vision for their grassroots game
