The US celebrated Mother’s Day and the rugby was flowing! We’re highlighting the USA Western & Eastern Club Championships, more award ceremonies, Lindsey Peat speaks to Israel Folau, French Elite Championship, Welsh Super Cup Final, and New Zealand takes Langford 7s.

  • The World Rugby Museum shared an amazing photo of a rugby team who are also workers from Newport Munition Factories. These women inspired other local teams, and the events were popular with spectators, with an estimated 10,000 crowd for Newport v Cardiff on 15 Dec 1917!
  • New Zealand bounces back and wins Langford 7s over Australia. USA takes third over France. New Zealand now lead the standings with 92 points after their fourth title in five rounds, followed by USA (80), Canada (78) and Australia (74) with France now 14 points adrift of a coveted top four spot.

  • Russia beat Germany in Bonn, a win that not only gives them a best-ever third place in the European XVs Championship, but will also leapfrog above their opponents into the world top 20.

  • Former Black Ferns player Bex Mahoney, right, was awarded her Black Ferns cap by Farah Palmer at the Tararua Sports Awards.
  • The Rugby Players’ Association (RPA) Awards 2019 have been announced in a ceremony at Twickenham Stadium.
    • O2 England Women’s Player of the Year was awarded to prop Sarah Bern
    • England Women’s Sevens Player of the Year in association with Emirates Holidays, it was Alex Matthews
