http://Scrumqueens.com 10 years on. We choose our XV Team of the Decade. A huge challenge – in the end our 23 includes 7 players from England, 6 from NZ, 4 from France, 3 from Ireland, 2 from Canada and 1 from the USA. Scrum Queens is celebrating their 10th anniversary and as part of the fun, they’ve chosen their 7s and 15s squads of the decade.
As they state in each article, selections were an agonizing process and we can see why. In each game there are those iconic players that roll off your tongue but when you start to look deeper, there are just so many amazing players.
For 7s it came down to four New Zealanders, two Canadians, two Russians and one player each is from Australia, France, Netherlands and Spain.
In 15s it was a bit more balanced but a big portion of the squad unsurprisingly comes from England, New Zealand and France.
Japan complete Asian clean sweep https://buff.ly/2oBia0W
3:00 PM – Sep 30, 2019
No real bumps in the road for Japan as they took home the Asian Sevens Championship. However, other teams did cause some bumps such as Thailand and Kazakhstan. Both improved in each leg with surprise wins throughout.
Kazakhstan in particular bumped China in pool play which caused them to face Japan in a semi-final, rather than the expected final. Japan defeated China 22-14 and then romped Thailand 26-5 in the final.
Red Roses contracts for the 2019/20 season announced https://buff.ly/2nNQUw0
9:00 AM – Sep 30, 2019
England has named 28 player contracts for 15s until August 2020. With an eye towards the 2021 WRWC and no other unions matching this level of commitment, will this put England in another league?
