Happy Holidays! A short week of women’s rugby news but we’ve got you covered. The 2020 Six Nations match officials have been assigned and France has released their 35 player training squad. Scrum Queens has announced their team of the decade, the Energia All-Ireland League is expanding and the Solomon Islands holds their first “get into rugby” festival.

News around the Six Nations is starting to flow, starting with all of the referee assignments, Abbie Scott talks with Yahoo Lifestyle about how England must keep improving ahead of the tournament and France announces their 35 player training squad.

Scrum Queens is celebrating their 10th anniversary and has done a team of the decade. We imagine choosing a team of the year is hard enough and bet it was even harder for a decade!

In the end the list of 23 includes 7 players from England, 6 from New Zealand, 4 from France, 3 from Ireland, 2 from Canada and 1 from the USA. Who do you think was left out or should have been considered?

The Harlequins overcame Leinster  47-26 in front of 7,514 supporters at Twickenham. This was the first time the Harlequins – who are top of the domestic Tyrrell’s Premier 15s competition – have been involved in the annual ‘Big Game’ day the men’s side hold annually.

The Energia Women’s All-Ireland League is will expand to from eight to ten teams and the format is slightly changed for the 2020/21 season. There will be no promotion and relegation this year but it will be introduced at the end of the season next year.

The two new teams are Wicklow and Ballincollig. Ballincollig is returning to the league after leaving in 2018 while Wicklow is completely new to this level of competition.

Canada has announced their U18 side to face USA in the Can-Am tour, December 26-30 in Chula Vista, CA. The team was selected after a series of regional identification camps and competition throughout 2019. This will be the only international tour for the U18 team this year.

The Solomon Islands held its inaugural Get Into Rugby (GIR) tag rugby festival with more than 200 girls and boys, between the ages of 9 and 17,  at the Town Ground Rugby Stadium in Honiara.

The festival came about as a result of a partnership between the Solomon Islands Rugby Union Federation (SIRUF) and the Australian government and is designed to create a pathway for young girls and boys to experience and enjoy the game.

Wales prop Amy Evans has retired from International Rugby to focus more on her family and business. Evans took up rugby at age 24 and amassed 35 caps in only four years.
