In Misc News we’ve got lots including an extension to the Premier Rugby Scholarships. Get your videos in today! The Scrum is covering Kate Zackary and Women’s Rugby Pod talks with Wales’ Ollie Phillips and England’s Vicky Fleetwood.

This week’s feature is the XV Foundation, created by USA Rugby Women’s National Team members Alycia Washington and Kristine Sommer. They’ve created this foundation to help create equal funding and opportunity for female rugby players in the USA.
YSC has become a monthly contributor, how much can you donate today?
At present, the USA Women’s XVs Program is the only USA Rugby team without secondary funding from outside entities. This means our sustainability is directly tied to the financial health of USA Rugby. We have been operating year-to-year, budget-to-budget, dollar-to-dollar. If we truly want to compete, we can no longer afford this approach.
To compete in an increasingly professional landscape, we must work with USA Rugby to create a financially sustainable platform through diverse, direct, and transparent revenue sources.

The news cycle ahead of the 2020 Six Nations is ramping up with squad announcements and articles on training camps. The first match of the tournament is February 2 and we will see Ireland host Scotland. Also on opening day is Wales vs Italy and a poorly scheduled France vs England.
We say poorly scheduled because this match could easily be the Championship on any other day. To play it in the first week…tough!
Scotland traveled to Spain today for a test match and in front of a large crowd they defeated the hosts 36-12.
Wales Women played Ireland in a training match on Sunday. They lost the game 22-12, Alisha Butchers and Kerin Lake scoring the Wales’ two tries, Lleucu George adding a conversion but it was a much needed and useful learning exercise according to Wales coach Chris Horsman.
After their European tour to face Italy where they tied 17-17 and Scotland win a win of 24-20…Japan has been ranked 12th in the World Rugby Rankings. This is their highest ranking ever!
Other movement in the rankings includes Hong Kong, moving from 23rd to 19th, Russia also moved to their highest ranking ever, 16th and Fiji moved up to 22nd.

Tyrrells Premier 15s finished up Round 12 and they go on break until the conclusion of the Six Nations. The top three remain the same with Harlequins on top followed by Saracens and Loghborough.
Week 8 of Energia AIL Women Week 8 saw Bohemian maintain their spot at the top of the table. They are chased by Railway with 35 points and Old Belvedere at 24 points.
Week 9 will be a nail-biter as table topper Bohemian faces second place Railway. This will also be the last week of league play ahead of semi-finals.
USA Rugby has picked up their USA Club Recap and we’ll feature it here every week.
Lettizia Alcaraz of Argentina is a cross-over athlete moving from football to rugby. Years later she has now been awarded a scholarship as part of the World Rugby Women’s Executive Leadership Scholarship.
Thanks to the scholarship, she has started post-graduate studies in coach management.
“To work better with players, staff, fans,” she said, acknowledging the work she has done with World Rugby, Sudamérica Rugby and the UAR in the last few years.

Some fun new law trials will be seen across the world this year...— YSCRugby - Women's Rugby 🏉🏳️⚧️✊ (@yscrugby) January 14, 2020
50:22 kick - Might be confusing at first, but it's really just about creating more space. If defenders drop back to cover the kick it means there is more space up front.

World Rugby will be trialing a few new rugby laws this summer. They will work their way through South Africa and a few other countries before possibly being adopted across the world.
Which one do you like the best and which do you like the least?
The Scrum has started doing features on women’s rugby players and we’re here for it. This one is all about Kate Zackary and her journey from soccer to rugby 7s and now as Captain of the Eagles.
