We start our featured women’s rugby news celebrating one year to go until the 2021 Rugby World Cup!
The 2017 Rugby World Cup was groundbreaking and the anticipation leading up to New Zealand is electric. We look forward to Fiji’s tournament debut, a new quarter-final stage and matches being played at three world-class venues.
Plans for the tournament include potential isolation of arriving teams. New Zealand has kept tight control on the COVID-19 virus and that will extend to future sporting events.

The Oceania XVs Championships were scheduled for November but have been cancelled. The Rugby World Cup Repechage Qualifier between Samoa and Tonga which was to be played during the Championship has however been retained and is planned for Auckland in November.

USA Rugby XVs are preparing to gather in Glendale, CO for an eight-week daily training environment (DTE) starting September 19. They are also hosting two 8-day mini camps throughout October.

The Samoa Rugby Union is celebrating the growth of rugby among women and girls with a month of activities, as part of ‘Oceania Unstoppables – Women in Rugby Month’.
The events begin with a Equal Playing Field Community 7s Festival, running from September 2-5 which includes a Girls Leadership Forum, a Girls Rugby Careers Expo and the Equal Playing Field Community 7s Tournament.

England’s elite women’s rugby competition, the Premier 15s, is expected to start its 2020-21 season on October 10 with clubs “playing locally where possible”. It is rumored that Premier 15s fixtures will be released at the end of the month.
