After more than a month off, SVNS is back, and it’s a big one—Vancouver is celebrating its 10th anniversary at BC Place! The action kicks off on Friday, February 21, and wraps up on Sunday, February 23, with a champion crowned and crucial standings points on the line. This marks the fourth stop on the Series, officially hitting the halfway mark of the season.
Canada’s women return to home soil for the first time since making history with their silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics. They’ll compete in Pool A against joint table leaders and Perth champions Australia, plus Brazil and Spain.
Women’s Olympic champions New Zealand lead the standings after a strong start to the season, winning Cape Town and securing silver in both Perth and Dubai. They’ll take on China, Ireland, and the USA in Pool B. Over in Pool C, Fiji, France, Great Britain, and Japan will battle it out.
Following the success of Perth, the women’s final will once again be the tournament’s grand finale, closing out HSBC SVNS Vancouver in style on Sunday night.
Australia (Dubai winners) and New Zealand (Cape Town winners) continue to set the pace, with Australia also claiming gold in Perth. As we edge closer to the Grand Finale (more below), Great Britain (7th) and Ireland (8th) hold the final safe spots, but the race isn’t over yet. Brazil (9th) and China (10th) are within striking distance, while Fiji (11th) and Spain (12) have more ground to cover but aren’t out of the fight. Every match matters as teams battle to avoid the drop and push for a spot in the top eight.

What’s at Stake
The 2025 HSBC SVNS season will build toward a dramatic finish in Los Angeles at Dignity Health Sports Park, the venue for the LA 2028 Olympic rugby sevens competition. After six regular-season stops—Dubai, Cape Town, Perth, Vancouver, Hong Kong, and Singapore—the top eight teams based on cumulative series points will advance to the HSBC SVNS World Championship, where the men’s and women’s champions will be crowned in a high-stakes, winner-takes-all showdown.
But that’s not the only battle happening in LA. The bottom four teams (9th-12th) will enter the high-stakes promotion and relegation playoff, facing the top four teams from the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series. Only the best will secure their place in the next HSBC SVNS season, making every match in LA a fight for survival.
