The countdown is officially on for the USA Women’s Eagles, as USA Rugby and World Rugby unveiled an ambitious home test schedule aimed at propelling the team toward peak form ahead of the 2025 Rugby World Cup in England.
Announced on March 18, the series includes high-stakes fixtures across the United States and abroad, providing crucial preparation time for the Eagles as they eye their best finish in decades. Fans will get unprecedented access this year, with four international women’s matches between April and May, including two stateside showdowns before the team heads overseas for the Pacific Four Series.
The campaign opens April 26 in Los Angeles at Wallis Annenberg Stadium on UCLA’s campus, where the USA will host Japan in a standalone test match. It’s a rare treat for Southern California fans and part of a doubleheader alongside an MLR clash between RFCLA and the San Diego Legion. Just a week later, the Eagles face familiar rivals Canada in Kansas City at CPKC Stadium on May 2, kicking off their Pacific Four Series run.
Following that, the squad will travel to Canberra to take on Australia on May 16 and then wrap up the series in Auckland with a showdown against reigning world champions New Zealand on May 23.
These matches carry major weight. All four teams involved have already qualified for the 2025 Rugby World Cup, setting the stage for critical performance evaluation and squad cohesion. Head Coach Sione Fukofuka emphasized that this tour isn’t just about preparation it’s about winning and growing.
“We have real competition for positions and a strong core playing group with some x-factor,” Fukofuka said. “This tournament will let us implement our game model, develop combinations, and create an environment where we have the ability to change the game.”
The spring player pool includes notable returners like captain Kate Zackary and veteran prop Hope Rogers, as well as fresh faces like Kapoina Bailey, Erica Coulibaly, and Malia Isaacs who are chasing their first caps. Also drawing attention is the return of Sevens stars Ilona Maher and Nicole Heavirland to the 15s setup.
The XV Foundation is helping fuel this effort by providing bonuses for player selection and match appearances, a vital investment in the team’s high-performance journey.
The summer slate is only part of what’s shaping up to be a landmark year for rugby in the United States. On July 19, Audi Field in Washington, D.C. will host a historic doubleheader with the Women’s Eagles facing Fiji and the Men’s Eagles taking on England. Earlier that month, the men also face Belgium (July 5) and Spain (July 12) in Charlotte, while the HSBC SVNS Finals will light up LA May 3–4.
The Pacific Four Series fixtures and the expanded domestic schedule mark a clear inflection point for women’s rugby in the U.S. As excitement builds toward the Rugby World Cup, the message is clear: the Eagles are coming, and they mean business.
