Hong Kong SVNS Mar 28-30: Schedule, Results, How to Watch

HSBC SVNS is back after a monthlong break, roaring into its iconic fifth stop: the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong SVNS, running March 28–30 at Kai Tak Sports Park. We’ve crossed the halfway mark in the series, and every match from here on out carries weight—with Grand Final dreams and relegation fears hanging in the balance.

New Zealand leads the standings after wins in Cape Town and Vancouver and runner-up finishes in Dubai and Perth. They top Pool A, joined by China, Brazil, and the USA. Over in Pool B, France—consistently third in all but Vancouver—will face off against Fiji, Great Britain, and Ireland. Australia headlines Pool C, having claimed Dubai and Perth, finished third in Cape Town, and second in Vancouver. They’ll square off against Canada, Japan, and Spain.

Fiji sits right on the relegation bubble in 8th place with 26 points—tied with Brazil—while Ireland, China, and Spain are all chasing from below. With just a few stops left before the SVNS Grand Final, Hong Kong could shake things up in a big way.

HSBC SVNS 2025 Schedule

What’s at Stake

The 2025 HSBC SVNS season will build toward a dramatic finish in Los Angeles at Dignity Health Sports Park, the venue for the LA 2028 Olympic rugby sevens competition. After six regular-season stops—Dubai, Cape Town, Perth, Vancouver, Hong Kong, and Singapore—the top eight teams based on cumulative series points will advance to the HSBC SVNS World Championship, where the men’s and women’s champions will be crowned in a high-stakes, winner-takes-all showdown.

But that’s not the only battle happening in LA. The bottom four teams (9th-12th) will enter the high-stakes promotion and relegation playoff, facing the top four teams from the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series. Only the best will secure their place in the next HSBC SVNS season, making every match in LA a fight for survival.
