Singapore SVNS Apr 5-6: Schedule, Results, How to Watch

The HSBC SVNS series heads to Singapore for its final regular-season stop, and New Zealand enters with all the momentum after claiming their second straight gold in Hong Kong. The Black Ferns edged Australia 26-19 in a tense final to extend their lead atop the standings and put themselves in pole position to be crowned HSBC SVNS 2025 League Winners. For the first time, the League Winners trophies will be officially awarded at the end of the regular season, making this weekend at Singapore National Stadium more than just a lead-up to the Grand Final—it’s a title decider.

Canada took bronze in Hong Kong with a gritty 21-17 win over France, joining New Zealand, Australia, France, USA, and Japan as the six women’s teams already locked into the Grand Final in Los Angeles. Singapore features the four-pool format we last saw in Cape Town, with only pool winners advancing to the semifinals—every match matters, and the pressure is on.

The pool draw sets the stage for high drama: New Zealand headlines Pool A with Brazil and China, while reigning SVNS champs Australia take on Japan and Spain in Pool B. Pool C is stacked with Olympic medallists Canada and the USA alongside Great Britain, and Pool D features France, Fiji, and Ireland.

Off the podium, Fiji surged into seventh place with a fifth-place finish, while Japan secured eighth by beating Brazil to take seventh in Hong Kong. Great Britain kept their Grand Final hopes alive with a dominant 11th-place win over Ireland but remain on the bubble with 37 points. Brazil (32), China (20), Ireland (19), and Spain (10) are still in the chase—one final shot in Singapore to pull off something magical and avoid the relegation playoffs in LA.

HSBC SVNS 2025 Schedule

What’s at Stake

The 2025 HSBC SVNS season will build toward a dramatic finish in Los Angeles at Dignity Health Sports Park, the venue for the LA 2028 Olympic rugby sevens competition. After six regular-season stops—Dubai, Cape Town, Perth, Vancouver, Hong Kong, and Singapore—the top eight teams based on cumulative series points will advance to the HSBC SVNS World Championship, where the men’s and women’s champions will be crowned in a high-stakes, winner-takes-all showdown.

But that’s not the only battle happening in LA. The bottom four teams (9th-12th) will enter the high-stakes promotion and relegation playoff, facing the top four teams from the World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series. Only the best will secure their place in the next HSBC SVNS season, making every match in LA a fight for survival.
