The Pacific Four Series is back for another year, but with a shift in focus. In a Rugby World Cup year, the 2025 edition won’t determine WXV qualification like past seasons—instead, it serves as vital preparation for the four powerhouse nations with their eyes firmly set on England 2025.
The tournament features familiar rivals: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States. With matches played across three continents, fans will get a glimpse of how these teams are shaping up for the biggest stage in women’s rugby.
What’s at Stake?
While the 2024 series doubled as a qualifier for the WXV tiers, all four Pacific Four teams have already secured spots in WXV 1 or 2—and more importantly, all four have already qualified for the 2025 Rugby World Cup. That means this year’s tournament is all about form, depth, and momentum heading into the most competitive World Cup yet.
Rankings Watch
With England leading the pack heading into World Cup year, all four Pacific Four teams are chasing the top spot—and each other:
Canada, currently ranked second in the world, will look to hold off the Black Ferns, who sit just behind them. Meanwhile, Australia and the USA—ranked 6th and 9th respectively—will be eager to close the gap on the top-tier nations ahead of World Cup pool draws.
Defending Champs vs. Rising Threats
Canada enters as defending champions after a dominant 2024 campaign, where they won all three of their matches, including a hard-fought 22–19 victory over New Zealand. New Zealand, the two-time Pacific Four champions prior to 2024, will be looking to reclaim the crown and fine-tune their squad in front of a home crowd.
For Australia and the USA, the series offers a critical benchmark. Their match in 2024 ended in a thrilling 32–25 win for the USA—one of the Eagles’ most important victories in recent memory.

USA announced on May 22 that their match against the Black Ferns will be on the CBS Sports Network. Most of the world can watch for free on RugbyPass, if that is blocked, we recommend checking the World Rugby ‘Where to Watch‘ page for other viewing options.
