In a groundbreaking move for rugby in America, World Rugby has announced a multi-year, multi-platform rights agreement with CBS Sports. This partnership makes Paramount+ the exclusive U.S. home for all men’s and women’s World Rugby competitions through 2029.
Fans in the U.S. will now have access to every Rugby World Cup match, all USA National Team test matches, HSBC SVNS, WXV, and the Pacific Nations Cup. Matches will stream live on Paramount+, with select events airing on CBS and CBS Sports Network.
The deal marks the most extensive U.S. broadcast coverage in rugby’s history and comes as excitement builds ahead of the U.S. hosting the Rugby World Cups in 2031 and 2033. Paramount+ will carry the Women’s Rugby World Cups in 2025 and 2029, the Men’s Rugby World Cup in 2027, and annual fixtures like the Pacific Four Series and the Men’s U20 World Championship.
USA Rugby fans won’t have to wait long. On July 19, CBS Sports will televise a doubleheader featuring both USA Eagles teams. The matches will stream on Paramount+ and air on CBS and CBS Sports Network.
This agreement delivers more than just matches. It brings shoulder content, on-demand replays, and digital storytelling, giving American viewers an easy path to discover and follow rugby. World Rugby sees this as a key part of its strategy to grow the game in the U.S., where participation has topped 800,000, the women’s game is booming, and professional leagues are on the rise.
World Rugby Chief Executive Alan Gilpin called the deal a “generational moment for rugby in the United States.”
He pointed to the growing momentum across youth, college, and professional levels and said this partnership will build a coast-to-coast rugby community.
Dan Weinberg, EVP of Programming at CBS Sports, said, “We’re elevating rugby’s presence nationwide and giving fans unmatched access to some of the sport’s most prestigious competitions. Paramount+ is now a year-round must-have for rugby fans.”
USA Rugby CEO Bill Goren added that the agreement helps bridge the gap between American sports fans and the international rugby world. “By showcasing both our USA Eagles and global competition, we’re laying a new foundation for rugby’s future here at home.”
The USA Eagles’ 2025 Summer Series has already broken records for ticket sales. The women’s team recently played in front of a packed stadium in Kansas City, setting the highest-ever attendance for a women’s international in the U.S. Star players like Ilona Maher are helping fuel rugby’s cultural momentum with mainstream audiences.
