- In the Celtic Challenge, the Wolfhounds maintained their perfect record with a six-try performance against the Glasgow Warriors to tighten their grip on the top spot. Clovers held onto second place following a hard-fought 19-14 victory over Gwalia Lightning, while Brython Thunder moved into fifth place and kept their play-off hopes alive by defeating Edinburgh 33-14. With only three rounds remaining in the regular season, the race for a home semi-final and the final fourth-place spot is intensifying. [link]
- The 2026 Pacific Four Series locations are officially locked in, starting with a double-header in Sacramento on April 11 featuring USA versus New Zealand and Canada against Australia. The tournament then moves to Kansas City on April 17 and Chicago on April 24 before heading to the Sunshine Coast in Australia for a historic Anzac Day finale between the Wallaroos and Black Ferns. - In Georgia, rugby has become a de facto national sport used to foster national identity and social resilience, particularly in vulnerable border regions like Nikozi. This village, situated on the border with the Russian-occupied region of South Ossetia, is often impacted by a “crawling border” where Russian troops shift boundary markers into Georgian territory. The Georgia Rugby Union, led by social project manager Nono Andguladze, is establishing a rugby team in Nikozi for 500 local children to provide a constructive community focus and teach core values in an unstable environment. - Prominent entrepreneur Hayley Parsons has issued a scathing letter to all Welsh rugby member clubs calling for the immediate ouster of WRU chair Richard Collier-Keywood. Parsons, the founder of Go.Compare, labeled the Union’s handling of the Y11 takeover of Cardiff and the potential demotion of the Ospreys as a “joke” and criticized a pervasive lack of transparency with players, staff, and fans. She alleges the WRU suffers from a “toxic culture” where experienced staff are sidelined, and she is urging clubs to call for an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) to enact a vote of no confidence before the Six Nations concludes. In response, the WRU maintains that it is making necessary, albeit difficult, decisions to ensure the long-term sustainability of the sport and to fund vital player pathways. [link]
- During the post-match coverage of Men’s Six Nations match Wales v France, legendary captain Alun Wyn Jones expressed deep frustration and echoed the concerns of fans regarding the Welsh Rugby Union’s current direction. Jones was notably unimpressed by an interview with WRU board member John Manders, who repeatedly emphasized “passion” while defending the union’s shift from a four-team to a three-team model. The former captain highlighted a growing gulf between the fans and the WRU, citing a lack of clarity in their plans and a perceived disregard for the emotions of those who see rugby as a way of life. Following a record-low Six Nations attendance at the Principality Stadium, Jones questioned the validity of recent consultations, noting that the “maths don’t add up” regarding proposed spending on a new National Centre of Excellence while professional teams are being axed. - The Royal Spanish Rugby Federation (RFER) is currently mobilizing five national teams, with a significant emphasis on the women’s pathway under the new head coach, Regis Sonnes. The senior women’s XV team, Las Leonas, is scheduled for a training camp in Bonalba from February 17th to 19th with a 40-player squad. Simultaneously, the U20 women’s team is preparing in Madrid for the upcoming summer World Cup, and the U18 team is training in Valladolid for the Six Nations Festival. [link]
- A new three-season sponsorship deal between the Royal Spanish Rugby Federation and Ambar Beer has been announced. - The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation has unveiled an ambitious 2026 calendar that prioritizes restoring the women’s game to the continental stage. The federation has submitted a bid to host the Africa Cup Women’s 7s Regional Qualifier in Lagos or Ogun to regain their continental ranking and is exploring a path to elite competition through the Rugby Africa Women’s Cup Division 1 in Tunisia. Domestically, the roadmap expands grassroots and high-performance pathways, featuring a National 7s Circuit across four states and a six-zone National 15s League that will culminate in national finals in Abuja. - South Africa has launched the Women Coaches’ Transitioning Workshop as part of its “Destination 2027” strategy to bridge the gender gap in elite coaching. The initiative, taking place at Delsma Sports Farm later this month, includes 24 elite female coaches, nine of whom are former Springbok Women’s players such as Mathrin Simmers and Rumandi Potgieter. This five-day high-performance programme is a formal prerequisite for the World Rugby Level 3 Course and aims to achieve a strategic target of 10 Level 3 accredited female coaches by 2027. [link]
- World Rugby has announced the match official appointments for the 2026 Guinness Women’s Six Nations and Pacific Four Series, featuring a mix of seasoned veterans and rising debutants. A major highlight of the schedule includes South Africa’s Aimee Barrett-Theron reaching the historic milestone of her 50th test as a referee during the Six Nations opener in France. [link]
- Alice Soper argues that New Zealand media analysis of the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup has been used to excuse local outlets for failing fans despite stats showing women covered 44% of rugby stories during the tournament. She claims the reporting in NZL lacks the depth and storytelling found in men’s sports and fails to meet the increased demand of a domestic audience that has tripled in size since 2022. [link]

- I (Wendy) was honored to be behind the mic for PWR Round 11 as an announcer for the high-stakes clash between the Ealing Trailfinders and Sale Sharks. The trip was a whirlwind journey from the Austin tarmac to the electric atmosphere at Vallis Way, where Sale secured their second win of the season. I traveled in Friday night and was at the match the next morning before pushing through the jet lag with late-night London sights like the Ghost Bus and a glowing Tower Bridge. Now that I am back on Texas soil and the bags are unpacked, I am just soaking in the memories of an incredible weekend.
- Serie A Élite enters its final stretch with Round 11, Valsugana Padova remains perfect at the top of the table with 54 points, followed by Villorba Rugby at 49 and Rugby Colorno at 40. Benetton Treviso currently holds the final playoff spot with 30 points, maintaining a substantial 14-point cushion over their nearest pursuers, Capitolina and CUS Milano. - Despite a perfect start on the pitch with two wins from two, the Black Pearls sit on 9 points due to a four-point deduction mandated by the Federation. No explanation for the deduction could be found.
- The Pick n Pay Women’s Super League 1 in South Africa opened its 2026 season with a series of high-scoring performances and a notable upset on the road.
