Attention all Ruggers, Spectators and Fans – sign up now for the 2012 Liberty Cup 15s Rugby tournament in New York, NY!

The Liberty Cup has a long and proud history of honoring and supporting America’s Heroes. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit The American First Responder Institute of Heraldry. The mission of the First Responder Institute is to recognize the service and sacrifice of all our law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMT’s and Paramedics. This non-profit Institute has created nationally recognized awards for valor and heroism in the service of the First Responders’ lifesaving mission.

No federal, state or local funds are required because the First Responder Institute prioritizes using locally donated dollars to honor local first responders. The “profits” created by honoring our First Responders are set aside to assist the families of our fallen in the Homeland Heroes Fund.

The Liberty Cup tradition started in 2007, with only two teams: the New York Police Dept. RFC, and Bragg RFC. Since then, it has grown to include rugby teams from the Fire Dept. of New York and Camp Lejeune Marine base.

This year, the cup is expanding to a 24 team format. Understanding that this is a global war, we are inviting teams from across the globe to carry on this mission of excellence. The 2012 Liberty Cup will specifically honor ruggers who have sacrificed for American Liberty during the tragedy on 9/11.
