BRAZILIAN RUGBY PLAYERS WANTED

São Paulo (SP) – The Brazilian Rugby Union (“Confederação Brasileira de Rugby” or “CBRu”) is working on the long-term development and high performance program for its men’s and women’s national teams (XVs and 7s).

With the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 hosting Rugby 7s for the first time, Brazil Rugby is aiming to have a significance presence there. CBRu also believes that it is well positioned to substantially increase performance of its first XV squad and qualify for RWC 2019 in Japan.

Part of CBRu’s strategy as it moves towards these very important events is to identify Brazilian descendants who are not living in Brazil and who may want to apply to enter CBRu’s High Performance Program. The High Performance Program will be run by the Crusaders and Canterbury Rugby Football Union as part of a long term relationship with the CBRu.

To be eligible to apply, men and women players must (i) hold a Brazilian Passport, or (ii) be of Brazilian descent, which includes becoming a Brazilian citizen. To meet these criteria you must (a) have been born in Brazil or have a parent or grandparent born in Brazil, and (b) have the ability to gain a passport through this heritage.

If you fulfill these criteria and believe you have the athleticism, skill, passion and drive to represent Brazil then we want to hear from you.

Please contact Brazil Rugby Coach Education and Talent ID Manager, Brent Frew at brent.frew@crfu.co.nz, with a copy to CBRu’s HP and Development Program Coordinator, JoãoNogueira at joao.nogueira@brasilrugby.com.br.
