This just in…Weather Conditions in North East cause havoc on WNT Camp in Florida

The camp was an overall excellent success but the return flights from Orlando have caused some problems for some players. Annemarie, our Field Reporter, is currently stuck in the Orlando Airport and has let us know that several USA WNT Camp participants have been stalled overnight because of the bad weather on the North East coast. However, there is some good news to be had for the stranded players as the Florida Rugby Union has picked up the tab for the players dinner and hotel room for the night.

Major props goes out to the Florida Rugby Union and specifically thanks goes to Raelyn Barlow for coming to the aid of the Eagles and USA A players, as well as Lisa O’Donnell who helped the entire weekend. It appears that flights to Boston, Baltimore and Philly were canceled. The Florida Rugby Union rolled out the carpet the whole weekend for the USA camp and they showed their appreciation even more as they helped out those in need.

Good luck to all trying to reach home tonight, tomorrow etc and be sure to be safe!

  2. Great FRU story Wendy.

With all this talk in the rugby world about “elite”, “high performance”, etc., these stories are nice to hear.

Let’s hope that in all the “progress” the IRB and US rugby are pursuing that little things like this don’t get lost.

Rugby is one of the few sports out there — and the only one I know where a pair of boots are all you need to make a new friend, and the the only excuse necessary to take care of someone.
