For some reason I am quite reflective today…when I first started this blog on March 31, 2006 I had no idea it would be as successful as it is today. The blog has changed quite a bit from the initial idea which was to blog mainly about teams in the Western Rugby Union. Branching out from that small market to covering all women’s rugby in the US and even starting to cover some International rugby has really changed the focus.
I often receive letters from you asking if I really have another job as it seems impossible that two people could cover so much rugby. I do have a full-time job and I play and referee rugby regularly. The hours can be long and the effort draining but once we receive a kind letter from a reader we know it is all worth it. Your letters are very appreciated as they help bring clarity to the whole process. The goal is to support Women’s Rugby period…to provide news, photos, videos, scores, match reports and everything that is associated with rugby. On that note we also welcome letters with constructive criticism as you help shape the focus as well.
Recently we brought on a few Interns and they have helped lighten the load and have brought thrilling and exciting topics as guest bloggers. Thank you for volunteering to help support YSC and women’s rugby! I look forward to the new Women’s Premiership Partnership with USA Rugby and with that we will be welcoming a few new Interns. We still need two or three more interns to help with the WPL, if you are interested email me!
A few weeks ago we passed the 1,000 post mark on this blog and I was too busy reporting on the Nations Cup in Canada to celebrate that milestone! 1,000 posts about women’s rugby…many blogs can’t even say they have 30 posts on women’s rugby! Another exciting milestone is that last year in June the page counter broke 100,000 visitors. This month we have we are already closing in on 300,000 visitors! I can’t tell you how excited and pumped it makes me to see continuing visitors and all the new visitors to this site.
Overall this blog has grown so much from where I started it and that has only come with the help of the YOU! Thank you for the support and please keep spreading the good word about what we are trying to do at Your Scrumhalf Connection.
