USA 51 Kazakhstan 0

The USA won their opening World Cup encounter beating Kazakhatan 51-0 in a game which was slow to get off the ground but exploded into life in the second half.

Playing in front of a hugely vocal USA crowd, American flyhalf Christy Ringgenberg got her side on the scoreboard with an early penalty to settle the nerves against a physical Kazakhstan team.

Nathalie Marchino then pushed the US lead out to 10 as she raced down the touchline to score the first try of the match, and the convert gave the Eagles a handy lead. It was a stop start match with both sides cancelling each other out up front.

The game though burst into life in the second half and the USA scored a glut of tries to take the points and the bonus point easilt.

ENGLAND 27 IRELAND 0

The host World Cup nation started their campaign with a win with a four-try bonus point against a dogged Ireland side. The scoreline reflected the share of possession England enjoyed in the match but perhaps not the tenacious grilling they got from an impressive Ireland side.

The two teams took to the pitch to a huge reception with the crowd on their feet as they ran down the tunnel.
