MARFU All-Star Women win Sevens Title – Full Results

The MARFU All-Star women made sure their territory would return with hardware as they blanked the South in the final, with a score of 24-0. The second day of the Emirates Airline USA Rugby National All-Star Sevens Championships, hosted by the Metropolitan New York Rugby Union, crowned two new national sevens champions on Sunday.  The Pacific Coast men and MARFU women earned their respective territories a championship title.

In the women’s competition, MARFU won the final without allowing the South to score a single point.  The South had a few opportunities early, but couldn’t execute as the hands were starting to fail them.  With the sun beating down and the heat radiating off of the sprint turf field, the game was as tough mentally as it was physically.  MARFU star, Ida Bernstein, showed her pace on the outside and on the counter attack.  The South couldn’t come up with an answer to her speed and change of pace.  Bernstein would score two tries in the final.  Her teammate, Lauren Hoeck, scored a try as well and was named tournament MVP.
